Ben Roethlisberger Has a Perfect Aaron Rodgers Replacement for Steelers
The days go on, and Aaron Rodgers has yet to make a decision. The former MVP still doesn’t know whether he’ll return to the Pittsburgh Steelers for another season or just call it quits, and the clock is ticking, and the team is running out of options to replace him.
That’s why Ben Roethlisberger believes they shouldn’t just rest on their laurels and wait for the dominoes to fall. He knows they need to find an insurance plan in case Rodgers doesn’t come back, and he happens to have the perfect guy for the job.
Making an appearance on the Deebo & Joe podcast, the Steelers legend claimed that they should strongly consider giving Josh Dobbs a call:
“Here’s something I would consider that happened recently,” Roethlisberger said. “Josh Dobbs just got released by New England. I would strongly — if Aaron is not coming back — I’d love to bring a veteran guy in like Dobbs, who’s been here. Obviously, a new system, not the same coaching staff, but bring a veteran guy in.”

Roethlisberger then doubled down on his previous comments about this year’s NFL Draft class, urging the team not to use any of their draft picks on a quarterback:
“I don’t think the Steelers should draft a quarterback early in this draft by any means. If you want to try and grab one in the fourth or somewhere just to add someone,” Roethlisberger continued.
Dobbs, a true journeyman, already spent time with the Steelers under coach Mike Tomlin. He’s a proven backup, but has a clear ceiling as a starter.
The Steelers could also consider making a run at Kirk Cousins if he’s still available by the time Rodgers makes his decision. Otherwise, they will have to roll with either Mason Rudolph or Will Howard or, against Big Ben’s wishes, maybe take Alabama’s Ty Simpson in the first round.
